Coffee is often viewed as both a lifesaver and a health risk. Despite negative rumors, recent research suggests that frequent coffee consumption may actually lower the risk of high blood pressure.

A study of nearly 500 elderly individuals on the Greek island of Ikaria found that those who drank 1-2 cups of coffee daily had 25% more blood vessel elasticity and were 5 times less likely to suffer from diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, or obesity, compared to those who drank less or more. These findings held even after controlling for other factors such as age, education, gender, physical activity, body weight, diet, blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking.

Coffee may not be the villain it’s sometimes made out to be. When consumed in moderation, it can actually have positive health benefits. To learn more about coffee and its brewing methods, get in touch with us today.
